Ambulance Featurette Highlights Drone Footage Used in Film

Michael Bay’s upcoming thriller Ambulance is set to premiere on April 8, but ahead of its release, a new featurette highlighting some of the huge action setpieces was released.

The new video shows off how Bay utilized drones to help achieve some shots in the upcoming film. Drone pilot Alex Hanover was on set for the film and flew the drone to capture a variety of scenes, including inside buildings, behind cars through chase scenes, and more. Because of the drone’s size and ability, it’s able to capture more footage than a larger camera might otherwise not be able to.

Check out the Ambulance featurette below:

Ambulance is directed by Michael Bay from a screenplay written by Chris Fedak (Chuck, Prodigal Son). The film stars Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (The Guilty), Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Candyman), Eiza González (Baby Driver), Garret Dillahunt (Raising Hope), Keir O’Donnell (Wedding Crashers), Emmy nominee Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), and more.

“In this breakneck thriller film, decorated veteran Will Sharp, desperate for money to cover his wife’s medical bills, asks for help from the one person he knows he shouldn’t—his adoptive brother Danny,” reads the official synopsis. “A charismatic career criminal, Danny instead offers him a score: the biggest bank heist in Los Angeles history: $32 million. With his wife’s survival on the line, Will can’t say no. But when their getaway goes spectacularly wrong, the desperate brothers hijack an ambulance with a wounded cop clinging to life and ace EMT Cam Thompson onboard. In a high-speed pursuit that never stops, Will and Danny must evade a massive, city-wide law enforcement response, keep their hostages alive, and somehow try not to kill each other, all while executing the most insane escape L.A. has ever seen.”
