According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jessica Sharzer — who wrote the 2018 script — will return to write the sequel. Paul Feig will also return to direct the film after helming the original, and will also serve as a producer on the picture alongside Laura Fischer, with Sharzer on as an executive producer role as well.

The 2018 film — which was based on the 2017 book of the same name by Darcey Bell — told the story of a mommy vlogger (Kendrick) who tries to help solve the disappearance of her new mysterious and elegant friend (Lively), only to discover that things aren’t exactly as they seemed. Although both Lively and Kendrick will return, it’s unclear how they will address the ending of the film, which saw Lively’s Emily Nelson sentenced to 20 years in prison after it was revealed that she had been behind a murder.
