The two most notable releases for October are David Lynch’s Lost Highway and Goerge A. Romero’s classic Night of the Living Dead, releasing on October 11 and October 4, respectively. Lost Highway stars Patricia Arquette and Bill Pullman, and tells the story of a musician who begins receiving mysterious VHS tapes of himself and his wife in their home. Meanwhile, Night of the Living Dead follows the story of a group of seven who are trapped by the undead in a farmhouse and is considered one of the greatest films ever made and is frequently cited as the first modern zombie film ever created. Both films will receive new 4K UHD versions, which include digital restorations supervised by both Lynch and the late Romero, as well as restored soundtracks for both films.

Elsewhere in the month of October, Frank Capra’s adaptation of the hit stage play Arsenic and Old Lace, originally released in 1944, is getting a restored 4K digital transfer on Blu-ray on October 11 as well. A week later on October 18, Jayro Bustamante’s La Llorona and Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Cure will release, both of which are also getting 4K digital restorations, but will only release on Blu-ray in the Collection. The former tells the story of an aging military dictator standing trial for various atrocities committed against Guatemala’s Mayan communities, while the latter sees Detective Takabe (Koji Yakusho) investigating a series of seemingly unconnected and shocking murders.

Finally, Kasi Lemmons’ Eve’s Bayou will release on October 25 with a Blu-ray disc containing a new 4K digital restoration of the director’s cut of the film. The film focuses on a young girl (Jurnee Smollett) who must watch as her family unravels after the infidelities of her father (Samuel L. Jackson) are brought to light.
