Despite releasing three years ago, fans are still hopeful that, one day, a longer cut of the hit film Avengers: Endgame will release. According to directors Joe and Anthony Russo, that likely won’t be happening.

In a new Wired video where they answer a variety of internet questions, the Russos discuss the possibility of a six-hour long cut of Endgame. The pair joked that perhaps a supercut of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame could total six hours, but said that the longest they ever had Endgame was still much shorter than that.
“I think the longest we ever had, it was like 3 hours and 40 minutes,” Joe Russo said, before Anthony added that “between the two [films], there could be a six-hour cut.”
However, despite an additional forty minutes having been filmed, the brothers both acknowledged that the cut content was not suitable to be included in any release of the film.

“I think those 40 minutes deserve to be on the editing floor,” Joe said, with Anthony adding “Yeah. That’s why they went there in the first place.” Finally, Joe shut the door on any longer cuts of the film, noting “You have the director’s cut. That’s it. There’s nothing else, sorry.”
