The report notes that both writers have been involved with the developing Fantastic Four film for some time now and have been working alongside Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to outline where the film will fit in alongside the other projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, the report notes, the trio of Kaplan, Springer, and director Matt Shakman will work together to align their visions before a script is written.
The writing duo doesn’t have a huge catalog of credits, with their next two films, Disaster Wedding and K-Pop: Lost in America, in pre-production at the moment. Prior to that, the pair wrote the 2014 film The Last of the Great Romantics, as well as the 2013 film Bert and Arnie’s Guide to Friendship.
Official casting for the film hasn’t been announced yet, but The Office alum John Krasinski recently made his debut as a variant of Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It’s still unclear whether or not Krasinski will also be reprising the role in the upcoming film.
