Hulu Schedule Additions: New TV & Movies Arriving This Week

A much-anticipated remake is hitting Hulu this week.

On Friday, October 7, the streaming service will add the newest Hellraiser movie to its available content. The film is directed by David Bruckner (The Ritual, The Nighthouse) from a screenplay written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, based on the story treatment by David S. Goyer. The ensemble cast includes Odessa A’zion, Jamie Clayton, Adam Faison, Drew Starkey, Brandon Flynn, Aoife Hinds, Jason Liles, Yinka Olorunnife, Selina Lo, Zachary Hing, and Kit Clarke, with Goran Visnjic and Hiam Abbass. Goyer, Barker, Marc Toberoff, and Chris Stone worked as producers. Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, and Todd Williams serve as executive producers. It is a production by Spyglass Media Group.

“In the film, a young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension,” reads the synopsis.

The Hellraiser franchise is based on Clive Barker’s horror novella titled The Hellbound Heart. Released in 1987, the first film originally told the story of an unfaithful wife who attempts to assist her dead lover in his escape from hell. Pinhead is the franchise’s villain, who leads the sadomasochist demons called Cenobites, who are summoned through an antique puzzle box. Due to its cult following, it was then followed by nine more sequels.
