Actress Mariela Garriga is set to make her debut in the Mission Impossible series with the upcoming Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part One. In a recent tweet, director Christopher McQuarrie shared a new image from the film, showcasing Garriga’s unknown character against a backdrop of blurry lights.

The caption associated with the image — “we cannot escape the past…” — is also pretty cryptic, and could hint at a number of things, be it her own character running from something, or her connection to Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt.

Garriga will be joining a star-studded cast, as Cruise and Hayley Atwell are set to star in the film alongside Rebecca Ferguson (Doctor Sleep), Simon Pegg (Ready Player One), Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction), Vanessa Kirby (Hobbs & Shaw), and Henry Czerny (Ready or Not) along with newcomers Shea Whigham (Joker), Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Avengers: Infinity War) and Esai Morales (La Bamba, Titans) who will replace Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road) for the villain role.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Part Two will be released on July 14, 2023, and June 28, 2024, respectively.
