Newly appointed CEO of DC Studios James Gunn is appreciative of DC fans’ passion and is being as upfront as possible with fans.

The Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director responded to many tweets about two fan campaigns: one regarding saving the recently canceled Legends of Tomorrow and another requesting the release of David Ayer’s cut of 2016’s Suicide Squad. While Gunn’s focus is on the future, he is appreciative that the majority of the campaigns have been respectful and come from a place of enthusiasm.
“Opened up Twitter at the end of a long, creative weekend to see the many tweets to #SaveLegendsofTomorrow & #ReleaseTheAyerCut & fan support for other DC projects over the years. The majority of these requests were enthusiastic & respectful,” said Gunn on Twitter. “As the new (& first ever) CEOs of DC Studios, Peter [Safran] & I think it’s important we acknowledge you, the fans, & let you know we hear your different desires for the pathways forward for DC. Although our ability to interact on Twitter has been lessened due to the workload of our new positions, we are listening & open to everything as we embark on this journey, & will continue to do so for the next few years.”
But all our initial focus is on the story going forward, hammering out the new DCU, & telling the Biggest Story Ever Told across multiple films, television shows, & animated projects.

Gunn then went on to state that his “initial focus is on the story going forward, hammering out the new DCU, & telling the Biggest Story Ever Told across multiple films, television shows, & animated projects” before inviting all of the DC fandoms from across the multiverse — and everyone else as well — into this new universe.” Gunn closed his message to fans by saying that he can’t wait to reveal more.

So while delving into past projects may not be a priority, the future and ambition at DC Studios is certainly exciting under Gunn and Safran.
