Daniel Kaluuya is set to swing his way into the world of Spider-Man, as The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the actor is joining the voice cast of the upcoming animated sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Kaluuya will join the film as Hobart “Hobie” Brown, a.k.a. Spider-Punk. The character is a relatively recent creation from Marvel Comics and sports a traditional punk look, complete with a spiky mohawk (made of actual spikes), a denim vest, and a guitar. Originally designed to be Spider-UK, the character was instead turned into a homeless teenager who gets transformed by a spider and becomes a punk-rock-inspired version of Spider-Man.
Alongside Kaluuya, Across the Spider-Verse is set to feature a ton of different Spider-Man variants. According to a recent report from The Cosmic Circus, these include two very well-known Spider-Men. Their latest report notes that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man trilogy and the Peter Parker that’s featured in Insomniac Games’ hit Marvel’s Spider-Man game are both set to appear in the film in a cameo role. As of now, it’s unclear whether or not Tom Holland will be reprising his role as Parker for the film, but the report notes that his version of Spider-Man will be in it.
Aside from those Spider-Men, a ton of other cameos are set to be in the film, including Spider-Woman, Scarlet Spider, and many more.
It was announced in April that Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson will serve as the film’s trio of directors. Lord, Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Christina Steinberg are all returning to produce the Sony Pictures project, with Alonzo Ruvalcaba co-producing. The director of the original Spider-Verse, Peter Ramsey, will executive produce, along with Aditya Sood.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduced a teenage Miles Morales, who becomes the Spider-Man of his universe and must join with five spider-powered individuals from other dimensions to stop a threat to all realities. The movie won the 2019 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film and grossed $375.5 million at the global box office.
