According to Variety, Paramount Pictures has officially set the theatrical release dates for Nickelodeon Animation’s upcoming untitled movies about its most popular shows, Avatar: The Last Airbender and SpongeBob Squarepants.
The Last Airbender film centering around Team Avatar as young adults is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 10, 2025, while the newest SpongeBob Squarepants movie will hit the cinemas on May 23, 2025. Both movies hail from Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation.

Avatar Studios is currently developing three animated films, each featuring standalone stories set within the world of the animated series. The first film will be directed by Lauren Montgomery. Avatar co-creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are producing alongside Eric Coleman, and the film will be produced under Avatar Studios.
The first Avatar film will officially be set years after the third season finale of the original series. It will once again center around Aang and his friends, who will be returning as young adults. Although, we got a few glimpses of them as adults through flashbacks in Avatar: The Legend of Korra, fans haven’t seen the full Team Avatar together in more than a decade since The Last Airbender‘s epic conclusion in 2008.

The original Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series for three seasons on Nickelodeon from February 2005 to July 2008. It received substantial acclaim during its run, picking up multiple Annie Awards, Genesis Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Peabody Award.
