After enduring the choppy seas of the Summer box office and coming out with a respectable $320 million worldwide, Ben Wheatley’s Meg 2: The Trench is heading to Max next week.
The sequel to 2018’s The Meg struggled domestically in a Summer dominated by Barbie and Oppenheimer, but overseas sales picked up the slack quite impressively.
When does Meg 2 release on Max?
Meg 2: The Trench is set to hit streaming service Max on Friday, September 29, 2023.
It will also be available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD starting October 24, 2023. You can currently purchase the movie via an early Premium Digital Ownership at home for $24.99 and 48-hour rental via PVOD for $19.99 SRP on participating digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, and more.
Meg 2 The Trench is directed by Ben Wheatley of Kill List and High Rise fame, and sees Jason Statham reprise the role of Jonas Taylor from the 2018 film The Meg, which is based (loosely) on the novel by Steve Alten. The sequel ups the giant sea creature count considerably but has been poorly received by critics.
