As they celebrate their high school graduation, four friends are involved in a hit-and-run accident when their car hits and apparently kills a pedestrian on an isolated roadway. They dispose of the body and vow to keep the incident a secret; a year later, somebody starts sending them letters bearing the warning “I Know What You Did Last Summer”.
I Know What You Did Last Summer was directed by Scotsman Jim Gillespie (D-Tox, Venom) and starred Jennifer Love Hewitt (Ghost Whisperer), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Freddie Prinze Jr. (Scooby-Doo) Ryan Phillipe (Cruel Intentions), Anne Heche (Donnie Brasco) and Johhny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory).
The 1997 film spawned two sequels and a television series, with lead Love Hewitt reprising her role in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. The original cast is reportedly returning for a new film from Sony Pictures.
