Superman Behind-the-Scenes Photo Teases the DCU’s Fortress of Solitude

A new Superman behind-the-scenes photo has been revealed, giving fans a look at the DC Studios movie’s set in Norway.

Director James Gunn spoke with Svalbardposten (via Deadline) about filming the DC Universe film in Norway. The filmmaker explained that the first scene of Superman going to the Fortress of Solitude has been shot and that Svalbard stood out as the best place to film these sections.

“We have filmed the first scenes [in Svalbard], which show Superman fleeing to the Fortress of Solitude,” Gunn stated (via VG). “We wanted a place that was beautiful and felt like being in the middle of the Arctic, so we looked at several places in the world. But there were many things that sold Svalbard for us over the other places.”

You can see the photo in the tweet below:

“Superman tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
