A new Hell Hole poster has been revealed for The Adams Family’s subversive creature feature coming to Shudder next month.
In the Adams Family’s celebration of the classic creature feature, an American-led fracking crew working deep in the Serbian wilderness finds themselves at odds with government-assigned environmental advisors. When they get approval to drill, the workers uncover the unimaginable: a dormant parasitic monster entombed deep in the frozen rock. Now awakened, it tears through the mining facility, searching for the perfect host.
It’s set to play at the 2024 Fantasia International Film Festival ahead of its streaming release.
Hell Hole Poster shows a hellish nightmare monster
The poster features a lovely writing mass of nightmares in humanoid form. Given the plot and the look of that, I’m getting some big The Thing/Slither flavors from Hell Hole.
Hell Hole is written and directed by John Adams and Toby Poser. Lulu Adams is also credited as a writer on the film. The directors also star in the movie alongside Max Portman, Anders Hove, Olivera Perunicic, Aleksandar Trmcic, Petar Arsic, and Bruno Veljanovski
John Adams, Toby Poser, and their daughters, Lulu and Zelda, are a filmmaking family under the creative marquee of Wonder Wheel Productions. They have seven previous productions together since 2012. These include The Deeper You Dig, The Shoot, Hellbender, and last year’s Where the Devil Roams. As a collective team, they write, direct, and produce; they shoot, edit, act, and compose their projects.
I was a fan of Hellbender in particular. It tells the story of a teen and her mother living simply in a home in the woods, spending their time making metal music. A chance encounter with a fellow teen causes her to uncover a connection between her family and witchcraft. This leads to a rift with her mother. It’s a strange, hypnotic slab of psychedelic folk horror worth checking out on VOD or Shudder.
Hell Hole will stream exclusively on Shudder from August 23, 2024.
