Christopher Nolan’s Next Movie Now Rumored to Be About Aerial Helicopter Cops

Christopher Nolan’s next movie is now rumored to be about aerial helicopter pilots.

Following the massive success of 2023’s Oppenheimer, Nolan is now working on a new, untitled film for Universal Pictures. It will star Matt Damon and Tom Holland.

There has been no formal announcement regarding what the movie will be about, though The Hollywood Reporter said it won’t be set in the present day. Some of the more vocal online rumors have suggested it could either be an espionage thriller or something more horror-focused that deals with vampires.

The latest rumor, however, suggests the movie will actually be about aerial helicopter pilots.

What are the latest rumors for Christopher Nolan’s next movie?

According to a short synopsis revealed by Production Weekly, shared on X by Christopher Nolan Art & Updates, the movie will be “about a pair of aerial helicopter cops, with an older mentor and younger lead.”

If true, this backs up a Reddit post from user DocJamieJay claiming the movie will be “in the vein” of 1983’s Blue Thunder, which was directed by John Badham.

“My sisters father in law works at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn & there has been excitement recently among the personel in the NYPD Aviation Unit that Christopher Nolan & key people from his production team will be arriving in November to spend roughly a month with the unit ahead of production of his next movie with Matt Damon joining early next year,” the Reddit post reads. “The word is that the movie will be a New York based futuristic action movie about a Helicopter pilot Cop who heads up the Aviation Unit in the US & the creation of a super advanced yet dangerous Helicopter itself being pursued by terrorists.”

Nolan’s next movie has been given a July 17, 2026, release date from Universal Pictures.
