Terrence Malick’s ‘Knight of Cups’ Finally Gets a Release Date

Time to celebrate, Terrence Malick fans: the prolific director’s long-awaited film Knight of Cups finally has a release date. According the The Hollywood Reporter, the film will hit theaters March 4, 2016 by way of upstart film distributor Broad Green Pictures.

The detailed synopsis was released ahead of the film’s premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in February.

Malick has his detractors, and I think I count as one of them. While I like The Thin Red Line it took me more than a handful of attempts to finally get through Days of Heaven, and I think the only reasons I enjoyed The Tree of Life are the star combination of Jessica Chastain and Brad Pitt and the fact that I saw the film shortly after getting my wisdom teeth out and popping a couple of Percocets.

I admit I’m a bit intrigued by both Knight of Cups and Weightless — Malick’s other yet-to-be-released film also starring Christian Bale, as well as Cate Blanchett, Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara, and Natalie Portman — but it’s more a passing curiosity than an oh-my-gosh-I-need-to-see-this-now! anticipation.

No matter, Knight of Cups is finally coming to theaters, though considering it is still more than 8 months away, the wait isn’t yet over.
