Studio 8 has acquired Planet Kill, which Steven Soderbergh will produce and possibly direct
Studio 8 has acquired the rights to the action thriller Planet Kill for Steven Soderbergh to produce and to possibly direct, according to Deadline. There are no details as of yet on Planet Kill‘s original story from Scott Z. Burns (Contagion, The Bourne Untimatum) and James Greer (Unsane, The Spy Next Door).
Soderbergh and Greer have the psycho thriller Unsane coming out next, on March 23. The film stars Amiee Mullins (Stranger Things, Young Ones), Juno Temple (Atonement, Maleficent), Amy Irving (Crossing Delancey, Carrie) and Claire Foy (The Crown, Wolf Hall). Unsane was shot completely on Soderbergh’s iPhone, and is the first major filmmaker to do this. There is no word about whether or not Planet Kill will be shot on a phone.
Planet Kill will be produced by Burns and written by Greer. Louise Rosner and John Graham will oversee the film for Studio 8.
