Kristen Bell has signed on to lead the indie drama The Lifeguard, Deadline reports. She replaced the formerly-attached Kate Bosworth in the role.
The Lifeguard focuses on a New York reporter who, upon hitting 30, decides to move back to her suburban hometown, returning to her former job as a local lifeguard. There, she finds herself starting a relationship with a teenager.
Liz W. Garcia is writing and directing the project, also set to star Mamie Gummer, Joshua Harto, Amy Madigan, Alex Shaffer and Martin Starr.
Bell, who stars on the television series “House of Lies,” also played a reporter earlier this year in Ken Kwapis’ The Big Miracle.
Production on The Lifeguard is set to begin later this month in Pittsburgh.
