Isla Fisher Eyes Jackie Brown Prequel Switch

Isla Fisher is the latest name to eye writer/director Dan Schechter’s Switch, based on the 1978 novel by Elmore Leonard. Variety has the news, saying that the Bachelorette star would play Melanie, the same role played by Bridget Fonda in Quentin Tarantino’s 1997 Jackie Brown, which was based on Leonard’s sequel of sorts, “Rum Punch.”

Set to star Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def), John Hawkes, Jennifer Aniston, and Ty Burrell, Switch is officially described as follows:

Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara have lots in common—time in the same slammer, convictions for grand theft auto, and a plan for a big score. They’re going to snatch the wife of a Detroit developer and collect some easy ransom money. They don’t figure on a bum of a husband who has a secret mistress and no desire to get his wife back. Or on his crazy, beautiful broad of a housewife who’s going to join Ordell and Louis in the slickest, saviest crime of all.

The trade also notes that the formerly attached Dennis Quaid has had to drop out the film due to scheduling conflicts.
