Exclusive Trailer: It’s Not A Burden is Heartfelt Doc on Elderly Parent Care

Exclusive Trailer: It’s Not A Burden provides a humorous and sad look at caring for elderly parents

While our parents bring us into the world and raise us into adulthood, it’s often the child’s duty to care for their parents later in life. This is the subject of a new documentary from Emmy-nominated filmmaker Michelle Boyaner (Packed in a Trunk: The Lost Art of Edith Lake Wilkinson) called It’s Not A Burden: The Humor and Heartache of Raising Elderly Parents. The film from Gravitas Ventures is out June 1 via video on demand services. It’s a real look at both the challenges and joys that come from looking at your loved ones, and ComingSoon.net is excited to debut its official trailer.

The film’s synopsis describes the documentary as “an intimate, humorous and heartfelt journey into the stories of adult children navigating the challenges and joys of caring for their aging parents. Featuring filmmaker Michelle Boyaner’s complex and tender journey caring for her own parents, the film also provides a glimpse into the lives of several other families each with their own diverse backgrounds, unique challenges, and personalities. The heartwarming film explores not only the frustrations and fears, but also the transformative bonds that happen when familial roles are reversed, friends support friends and communities come together, exemplifying our capacity to love.”

Barbara Green (A Finished Life: The Goodbye and No Regrets Tour) served as the film’s cinematographer, editor and producer, while Katie Ford (Miss Congeniality) and Wendy Zipes Hunter (Voices of Parkland) served as producers. The film is accompanied by an original score from Joanna Katcher (Nice Manners) featuring songs by Danielle Ate The Sandwich. Finally, Maxine Lapiduss (Dharma & Greg), Aaron Lustig (The Young and the Restless) and Barb Held executively produced the project.
