ComingSoon.net is debuting the exclusive trailer for The Holy Game, the latest documentary film from director Brent Hodge (I Am Chris Farley, Freaks and Geeks: The Documentary) and Hodgee Films. The documentary will launch on CRAVE in Canada on June 28, 2021, and is being launched by Gravitas in the U.S. and worldwide for Digital and Cable on Demand Release on June 29, 2021.
The film is having a virtual premiere screening event on June 28 in association with the Kicking + Screening Festival.

The film is co-directed by Chris Kelly (The Slowest Show, This Is That) and was shot in Rome, Portugal, and locations across the U.S.

The Holy Game offers an exclusive look at an officially sanctioned Vatican soccer tournament for priests. Beyond the Vatican walls, there is a soccer championship like no other in which young priests in seminary from around the world gather to play in the Clericus Cup. The film explores religion, sport, and tradition, and examines why people around the world still sacrifice so much to become a priest.

Hodge is a Canadian filmmaker who has seen success around the globe in the documentary world with feature films including The Pistol Shrimps, Freaks and Geeks: The Documentary, Who Let the Dogs Out, A Brony Tale, and many more. His upcoming projects include Pharma Bro, a documentary centered on Martin Shkreli and Downey Wrote That, a documentary about SNL writer Jim Downey.
