The trailer quickly goes over the basic synopsis, which had already been revealed. Shao Kahn invades and now the Mortal Kombat tournament will determine the fate of all realms. However, the video does give viewers their first look at Stryker, Reiko, D’Vorah, Kintaro, Jade, Sektor, Cyrax, and more.
Joel McHale and Jennifer Carpenter will reprise their starring roles as Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, respectively. Most other characters that weren’t gruesomely slaughtered will also return. Jordan Rodrigues’ Liu Kang, Patrick Seitz’ Scorpion, Artt Butler’s Shang Tsung, Downes’ Shinnok, Dave B. Mitchell’s Raiden, Ikè Amadi’s Jax, Grey Griffin’s Kitana, and Fred Tatasciore’s Shao Kahn should be recognizable for those who saw the Scorpion’s Revenge. However, Butler will also be playing Cyrax, Downes will voice Reiko, Mitchell will play Kintaro and Sektor, and Griffin will be behind the popular Tarkatan and Edenian hybrid, Mileena.

There are also a slew of new actors as well. Matthew Mercer is set to play the cop Stryker and ninja Smoke. Bayardo De Murguia will be Sub-Zero and Kuai Liang. Matt Yang King will voice Kung Lao. Paul Nakauchi is going to play the Lin Kuei Grandmaster. Emily O’Brien will portray the Edenian Jade. And Debra Wilson will depict Mortal Kombat X newcomer D’Vorah for the first time in any non-game adaptation of the franchise. De Murguia is likely not replacing Steve Blum as Sub-Zero as Blum’s Sub-Zero was Bi-Han, who goes on to become Noob Saibot, and De Murguia is playing Kuai Liang.
