Netflix Bridgerton: Regé-Jean Page will not return as the Duke.
Lady Whistletown revealed that Regé-Jean Page will be bidding Bridgerton adieu. Following the announcement, Page told Angelique Jackson of Variety exclusively, “It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end – give us a year,” the actor shared, revealing it was a part of the plan all along. “[I thought] ‘That’s interesting,’ because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.”

In fact, Shondaland and Netflix had only anticipated the love story between Simon (Page) and Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), who will return, would only be featured in the series’ first season. Moving forward, Bridgerton will focus on other members of the titular family.

Page’s exit has sent fans into a frenzy akin to when Dan Stevens left Downton Abbey.
So while the Dungeons and Dragons film is in the imminent future for Page, the leading man is also set to continue his work with Netflix on The Gray Man. He recently won the NAACP award for outstanding actor in a drama series. Exiting while on top he shared, “I have nothing but excitement for ‘Bridgerton’ continuing to steam train off and conquer the globe,” he said. “But there is also value in completing these arcs and sticking the landing.”

Quickly after its Christmas Day release, Bridgerton has become a major hit for Netflix with a record of 82 million households binging the series in its first month. The Shondaland series is based on the books by Julia Quinn.
