More Details on Killmonger’s Marvel’s What If…? Episode

According to the report, Erik Stevens/Killmonger will be a key figure in one of the episodes of Marvel’s What If…?, with the character joining up with none other than Tony Stark instead of trying to take the throne in Wakanda. The report doesn’t speak on much else, so it’s currently unknown if Killmonger will continue to play a villain as he teams up with Stark, but the What If…? Comics have also played with the idea of villains turning into heroes and vice versa, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see him turn out to be a good guy for this specific episode.

Most notably, Marvel’s What If…? will feature the late Chadwick Boseman, who was able to reprise his role as T’Challa, also known as the Black Panther, for the show. His episode will revolve around T’Challa being abducted by the Reavers that took Peter Quill (Star-Lord) in The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Every story in the show will be non-canonical, as the stories will feature some wildly different outcomes from their actual events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The original What if comic book series debuted in 1977, and 200 issues have been published over time. The stories ranged from implausible scenarios to more humored-filled takes. It’s a great way for Marvel to use the streaming service to tell more out-of-the-box stories unachievable through live-action.
