The official layout of panels and events for this year’s Star Wars Celebration may have given fans an early hint at what’s to come for Disney’s space-faring franchise when it comes to animation. As spotted by GamesRadar, a panel for the otherwise unannounced Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi briefly faded into existence before disappearing as fast as Sebastian Shaw’s likeness at the end of Return of the Jedi.

The panel description described Tales of the Jedi as an animated anthology and listed noted Star Wars animation producer Dave Filoni among its panelists. The name Tales of the Jedi connects back to a Dark Horse comic series that explored events in the Old Republic era, the same pre-prequel timeframe as EA’s Star Wars massively multiplayer online role-playing game.
Tales of the Jedi would be one in a long series of animation projects expanding the Star Wars universe beyond the films. From the early days of Ewoks and its mind-numbing theme song to the recent Bad Batch on Disney+, Star Wars fans have had plenty of options. While it’s no guarantee that Tales of the Jedi will go back to the comic tales, it would be an interesting break from the Mandalorian-centered universe Disney has built on their streaming platform.

Whether the show is simply borrowing a name that sounds good or adapting the comic tales is unknown, but fans won’t have to wait long to find out. Star Wars Celebration takes place in about a month, with the panel in question supposedly occurring on May 28.
