Will Forte will star in Bodkin, a scripted drama produced for Netflix and executive produced by Barack and Michelle Obama.
The show, which was created by Jez Scharf (Mister Biscuits, The UnDream), is all about a group of podcasters investigating a missing person’s case and getting more than they bargained for. The cast also includes Siobhán Cullen, Robyn Cara, David Wilmot, and Chris Walley.

Forte will play Gilbert Power, an open and enthusiastic American transplanted to Dublin that should fit in right alongside his other characters. Projects like MacGruber and The Last Man on Earth have shown Forte’s darkly comedic chops, and the show description makes it seem like a perfect match of a script and a leading man.
“Bodkin is a darkly comedic thriller about a motley crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic, coastal Irish town. But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined. As our heroes try to discern fact from fiction — about the case, about their colleagues and, most painfully, themselves — the series challenges our perception of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify our beliefs or validate our fears.”

Bodkin is yet another project from Higher Ground Productions, a company founded by the former President and First Lady. They have already been all over the streaming service, including personal appearances in Becoming, The G Word with Adam Conover, and the Oscar-nominated documentary American Factory. They signed a multi-year deal with Netflix back in 2018 and are still rolling out a full slate of productions for subscribers.
