What Are the Critics Saying about Acapulco?
Acapulco enjoys an overwhelmingly positive response from both critics (100% on Rotten Tomatoes) and the audience (89% on Rotten Tomatoes). Máximo’s heart-warming story seems to have struck a chord with most viewers.
The Wrap’s Monica Castillo says, “Part of the appeal of Acapulco is that no matter the visitor or problem of the week may be, there are some constants the show can always return to and it’s watching those storylines flower that deliver the greatest laughs and biggest smiles.”
Dan Fienberg from The Hollywood Reporter writes, “The farcical misunderstandings are designed to go both ways. Cultural and socioeconomic openness is the material’s ideal, to the point where Acapulco plays more as a fairy tale or a twist-deficient telenovela than anything even remotely realistic.”
