The Chosen: Jesus Series Gets SAG Go-Ahead To Complete Season 4

The Jesus Christ-focused series The Chosen has received the go-ahead from SAG-AFTRA to keep filming its fourth season despite the ongoing strike.

Will The Chosen Season 4 finish filming during the SAG strike?

The official Twitter account for The Chosen has reported that the series has been approved for a waiver from SAG, allowing the show to finish its ongoing filming for Season 4. In a follow-up tweet, the account noted that production on The Chosen has agreed to all of SAG’s requests and their interim agreement and that Season 4 is “entirely independent and 100% funded by donations.”

Per TV Line, the reasoning for them to be able to continue filming is listed in the SAG FAQ, which states that “with respect to non-AMPTP, independently-produced content that comes within the scope of a strike order, SAG-AFTRA anticipates offering an Interim Agreement that would allow such productions to continue working during a strike provided that the producer agrees to abide by the terms that SAG-AFTRA is seeking from the AMPTP.”

The Chosen is a historical Christian drama that centers on the life of Jesus Christ and the people he interacted with. It was created by Dallas Jenkins and stars Shahar Isaac, Jonathan Roumie, Elizabeth Tabish, Paras Patel, Noah James, and George H. Xanthis.

“A charismatic fisherman struggling with debt,” reads the series’ synopsis. “A troubled woman wrestling with demons. A gifted accountant ostracized from his family and people. In this ground-breaking first season of ‘The Chosen,’ see how Jesus reaches each of these and more as He works His first miracles and embarks on his ministry to change the world. See Him through the eyes of those who knew Him.”
