Cobra Kai Co-Creator Confirms Episode Count & Runtime Length for Final Season

Cobra Kai co-creator Hayden Schlossberg has confirmed the episode count and runtime of the series’ upcoming final season, revealing on X (formerly Twitter) that Cobra Kai Season 6 will consist of 10 episodes. He also noted that “total runtime for the full season will be the longest,” indicating that at least one of those 10 episodes will have a longer runtime than usual for the Netflix series.

What’s coming in Cobra Kai Season 6?

Cobra Kai has cast C.S. Lee in the role of Master Kim Sun-Yung — the grandfather of Kim Da-Eun, who was introduced in the show’s fifth season. Master Kim, as a character, goes back to the original Karate Kid movies. He’s been played by different actors, including Don Lee in a previous Cobra Kai flashback.

Cobra Kai Season 6 does not currently have a premiere date, though Schlossberg is hopeful for a 2024 release. The show’s co-creators, including Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald, have also discussed the possibility of Cobra Kai spin-offs.

The show “takes place over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament with the continuation of the inescapable conflict between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka),” per the official logline.

Along with Macchio and Zabka, the cast includes Courtney Henggeler (Amanda LaRusso), Tanner Buchanan (Robby Keene), Xolo Maridueña (Miguel Diaz), Mary Mouser (Samantha LaRusso), Jacob Bertrand (Hawk), Gianni Decenzo (Demetri), Vanessa Rubio (Carmen), Peyton List (Tory) and Martin Kove (John Kreese) with Dallas Dupree Young (Kenny), Oona O’Brien (Devon), Griffin Santopietro (Anthony), Yuji Okumoto (Chozen), and Thomas Ian Griffith (Terry Silver).

Cobra Kai is written and executive produced by Heald, Hurwitz, and Schlossberg via their production company, Counterbalance Entertainment. Will Smith, James Lassiter, and Caleeb Pinkett executive produce for Westbrook Studios along with Susan Ekins in association with Sony Pictures Television. Macchio and Zabka also serve as executive producers.
