Curb Your Enthusiasm star Cheryl Hines has revealed how she feels about the beloved HBO comedy series coming to an end after twelve seasons.
While speaking with ComingSoon about the film Popular Theory, Hines was asked about Curb concluding after the currently ongoing Season 12. The actress explained that seriesd creator and star Larry David thought each season would be the final one, then likened the feeling to that of breaking up with a boyfriend over and over again before realizing this time is the last.
“It is really strange,” Hines explained. “I mean, it’s been part of my adult life. It’s hard. Also, honestly, after every season, Larry would say, even from the first season, ‘I think this is it. I don’t think we do anymore.’ [Laughs]. So I never thought we were going to do more than one season. Every season we did, I felt so grateful and thankful. I was like, ‘Okay, I really have to enjoy this one.’ And then, 25 years later, for him to say, ‘No’ … it’s like a boyfriend. It’s like breaking up with a boyfriend over and over again until finally it sticks and you’re like, ‘Oh no, it’s sticking!’ [Laughs]. It’s a little sad.”
Originally released in 2000, Curb Your Enthusiasm was created by Larry David (Seinfeld), who stars in the series as a semi-fictionalized version of himself. The series has been critically praised from its inception and has been nominated for 51 Emmy Awards in total.
