Bad Friends, a new animated comedy series from Andrew Santino and Bobby Lee, has landed for development at Hulu. Bad Friends is based on the popular podcast hosted by Santino and Lee.
Per Deadline, “Bad Friends follows the relationship between Andrew, a fiery lightning bug, and Bobby, a shy rolly polly, as they navigate the treacherous waters of being adolescent misfit bugs in high school.”
Who is Involved in Bad Friends?
Bad Friends is created by Santino, Lee, Nick Kreiss, and Andres Salaff. Kreiss and Santino will write for the potential series.
Executive producers include Santino, Lee, and Kreiss, with Salaff listed as a co-executive producer. Trevor Engelson and Doug Banker will also executive produce. The series stems from 20th Television Animation.
Santino and Lee have been hosting the Bad Friends podcast since 2020. The podcast is available across all platforms. To date, the Bad Friends podcast has 1.48 million subscribers on YouTube.
Earlier this year, Santino starred in Prime Video’s Ricky Stanicky alongside John Cena and Zac Efron. Santino’s other notable roles include Michael on Beef, Mike on Dave, and Billy Hobbs on I’m Dying Up Here.
Lee rose to prominence on MADtv as a cast member from 2001-2009. Lee has also appeared in ABC’s Splitting Up Together, And Just Like That…, and Reservation Dogs. Lee has a role in Eli Roth’s Borderlands, which arrives in theaters on August 9, 2024.
