X-Men ’97 Season 3 Finds New Head Writer After Beau DeMayo Exit

A new head writer has been found for X-Men ’97 Season 3 following the exit of Beau DeMayo on the hit animated Disney Plus show.

According to Deadline‘s sources, What If..? writer Matthew Chauncey will take on the show’s third season alongside director Jake Castonera. Chauncey has been a writer and producer on the other notable animated Marvel series since the first season.

Previous head writer DeMayo had written X-Men ’97 Season 2 before the first season’s premiere on Disney Plus. The show is a huge success, with the finale pulling in 3.5 million views in its first five days of streaming.

X-Men ’97 Season 2 is currently in production, and while the script has been written, it is reportedly being revised.

The revival continues the iconic 90s timeline of the original series. It hails from former showrunner Beau DeMayo and directors Jake Castorena, Chase Conley, and Emi Yonemura. It features music by The Newton Brothers, who are set to return in the next season.
