Jon Cryer says his biggest regret was not returning for Superman & Lois
Jon Cryer recently shared his regret for not reprising the character in Superman & Lois. In an interview with KJ TODAY, Cryer reflected on his experiences in the Arrowverse and expressed disappointment at missing the opportunity. “The whole Arrowverse was just one for the nerds. I loved being a nerd. I loved reveling in it. We got into the deepest, darkest recesses of DC lore,” Cryer said. “My biggest regret is that I never was on it,” he added.
Cryer portrayed Lex Luthor in Supergirl, Batwoman, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, particularly in crossover events. However, he was not cast in Superman & Lois, which concluded its four-season run on December 2, 2024.
Speaking about the series, Cryer remarked, “I am sorry to see Superman & Lois go as well, because I think that was just a fantastic new look at those characters. I think they managed to really crack it by being faithful to who Superman is.”
In Superman & Lois, Michael Cudlitz took on the role of Lex Luthor. With the series now concluded, Cryer’s absence stands out in the history of Lex Luthor’s portrayals.
Nicholas Hoult takes on the role of Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s Superman film, set to release in 2025. This movie extends the character’s legacy in DC’s cinematic universe.
