Netflix has finally unveiled the first Ripley teaser trailer for its upcoming series adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s classic thriller novel titled The Talented Mr. Ripley.
The video introduces Andrew Scott as the titular character, who seemingly has a questionable identity. It also features the various characters he will meet throughout the limited drama, including Dakota Fanning’s Marge Sherwood. The series will start streaming on April 4.

What to expect in Ripley?
“In the series, Tom Ripley, a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York, is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son Dickie Greenleaf to return home,” reads the synopsis. “Tom’s acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud, and murder. Meanwhile, Marge Sherwood, an American living in Italy, suspects darker motives underlie Tom’s affability.”
Ripley is written and directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Steven Zaillian. Besides Scott and Fanning, the miniseries will also be led by Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf, Pasquale Esposito, Franco Silvestri, Eliot Sumner, John Malkovich and more. It is produced by Scott and Endemol Shine North America in association with Entertainment 360 and Filmrights. Executive producers are Zaillian, Garrett Basch, Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner, Sharon Levy, Philipp Keel, and Charlie Corwin.
