Eddie Redmayne (The Good Nurse) and Lashana Lynch (The Woman King) embark on a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse in the first teaser trailer for The Day of the Jackal.
Set to premiere on November 7, 2024 (on Peacock in the US and Sky in the UK), The Day of the Jackal is based on Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 political thriller novel of the same name, starring Redmayne as the lone assassin called The Jackal. He will be joined by Lynch and Money Heist star Úrsula Corberó.
What is The Day of the Jackal about?
The forthcoming series will revolve around the rivalry between two highly skilled professionals — an assassin and an intelligence officer — with the latter delving into a perilous mission to track down the highly elusive assassin.
The official synopsis reads: “An unrivaled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal (Redmayne), makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee. But following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer (Lynch) who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake.”

The rest of the cast includes Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi, and Florisa Kamara. In addition to starring, Redmayne will serve as the show’s executive producer and Lynch as the co-executive producer. It is written by Ronan Bennett, with the book’s author serving as the consulting producer.
Additional executive producers include Gareth Neame, Nigel Marchant, Sam Hoyle, Sue Naegle, and Brian Kirk. Kirk is the show’s director and Chris Hall is the producer. The Day of the Jackal is a Carnival Films production.
