Cody Rhodes has recently hinted at the possibility of AEW World Champion MJF, one of his handpicked recruits, making a move to WWE. Holding the AEW title for an impressive 389 days, MJF’s journey has been closely linked with Cody Rhodes since his introduction to AEW President Tony Khan.
MJF’s journey has been nothing short of spectacular. During his journey, though he engaged in feuds with stars like Cody Rhodes, Chris Jericho, CM Punk, Jon Moxley, and Bryan Danielson, he cemented his position as a top star through his outstanding performance and promo skills.
For those unaware, MJF and Cody Rhodes are invariably linked, as Rhodes brought MJF into the promotion. The Salt of the Earth consistently acknowledges Rhodes with shoutouts on AEW programming.
In a recent interview with YES Network, Rhodes acknowledged MJF’s remarkable physical transformation, fueling speculation about potential future endeavors. Rhodes stated, “I think one day we will see MJF in WWE… When he does make that jump, if he comes to WWE and has to stand across from guys like Drew McIntyre or Brock Lesnar, you have to be able to swing the bat with the big boys.”

In recent years, AEW stars, such as Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Jade Cargill, and Lexi King, have moved to WWE.
Will MJF be the next top star to switch promotions? Only time will tell.
Has MJF officially renewed his AEW contract?
MJF has flirted with the possibility of joining WWE, frequently referencing a potential ‘bidding war’ in 2024, as his AEW contract is set to expire in January. As we approach the end of 2023, the big question remains has MJF re-signed with AEW?
Over the past year, MJF’s contract status has been a major wrestling topic. In March, he reportedly hinted at joining WWE in 2024 but publicly insists his contract ends on January 1, 2024. He emphasized his interest in a substantial paycheck. In November, he mentioned that Tony Khan is making significant efforts to retain him in AEW.
Based on Maxwell’s recent statements, it seems like he has not signed a new contract with AEW. However, all of this could also be part of a major storyline to swerve the fans and keep them hooked on AEW programming.
