In a major development, Zelina Vega has inked a new multi-year deal with WWE, extending her tenure with the promotion. In recent weeks, WWE has had a string of contract renewals, including those of notable stars like Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Dominik Mysterio, and Rey Mysterio. Flair’s new deal has made headlines for making her the highest-paid women’s wrestler in WWE.
With WWE successfully securing several talents in recent weeks, the promotion has now included Zelina Vega in this roster of renewed contracts.
According to recent reports from PWInsider, Zelina Vega has also inked a new agreement, signaling her dedication to WWE. Vega, a key member of the Latino World Order (LWO), initially joined WWE in 2017 and achieved success alongside Andrade El Idolo.
However, she faced a temporary release in November 2020 due to her stance against WWE’s policy on controlling third-party platforms like Twitch. She did make her return to the promotion eight months later. Zelina Vega went on to capture victory in the Queens Crown Tournament in Saudi Arabia in 2021.
Zelina Vega has been an integral part of the Latino World Order, which Santos Escobar recently broke. The faction gained prominence just before WrestleMania 39. Vega also had a memorable clash with Rhea Ripley at the Backlash in Puerto Rico, which solidified her status as a significant figure in WWE’s women’s division.
What’s next for Zelina Vega in WWE?
With WWE securing Zelina Vega on a new SmackDown contract, the question arises – what lies ahead for Vega in WWE?
In recent weeks, Santos Escobar of LWO targeted Rey Mysterio, leading to confrontations within LWO. Zelina Vega officially ended the faction when she confronted Escobar, resulting in her slapping him. With LWO officially disbanded, Zelina Vega can now focus on her solo career.
However, on SmackDown, Damage CTRL, comprising Bayley, current WWE Women’s Champion Iyo Sky, Dakota Kai, Asuka, and Kairi Sane, is causing chaos on the roster.
Vega might engage in a storyline against Damage CTRL, who are currently feuding with Bianca Blair, Shotzi, and the injured Charlotte Flair (out for at least nine months). Given Flair’s absence, Vega could step in and join Blair’s team to confront Damage CTRL.
