WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley and Bray Wyatt had a shared connection through the Mandible Claw. In 2019, Bray Wyatt introduced his new Firefly Funhouse gimmick, which left fans confused by his “happy-go-lucky” character, especially after his previous creepy “Eater of Worlds” persona.
However, after playing vignettes for months, fans soon discovered the ultimate side of Bray Wyatt’s alter ego when he introduced The Fiend. The Fiend made his first appearance by attacking Finn Balor.
A few weeks later, Mick Foley appeared on WWE television, only to be confronted by The Fiend. The Fiend attacked Foley with the Mandible Claw, a move Foley had made famous in the 1990s.
Following the attack, Bray Wyatt frequently used the Mandible Claw on his opponents, making it his signature move. Wyatt’s future looked bright as he continued to captivate fans with his unique gimmicks, but tragically, in August 2023, he passed away from a heart attack at the age of 36.
Though Wyatt is gone, his legacy lives on through his fans and fellow wrestlers. His brother, Bo Dallas, continues to honor his memory with the Wyatt Sicks faction. Recently, Mick Foley shared his thoughts on Bray Wyatt using his iconic move.
WWE’s Mick Foley reflects on Bray Wyatt’s using his move
Speaking in an interview with MuscleManMalcolm at GCW Fan Fest, Mick Foley shared his thoughts on Bray Wyatt using the Mandible Claw. He stated, “I love it. Like I said, some people don’t, which is why the office reaches out out of respect. Paul Heyman called me, and I immediately knew what to say—I didn’t even have to think about it. I love it. It feels like you’re still part of that show every Monday night, especially when that move is used.”
Even AEW star Britt Baker has used the Mandible Claw in her matches. This showcases how Mick Foley’s iconic move continues its legacy as it is used by the new generation of wrestlers.
