In 2024, WWE received an incredible reception from the crowd at WWE Backlash in France. The show took place in Lyon and featured one of the most enthusiastic crowds in WWE’s recent history.
French fans ensured that every superstar performing for them felt special, carrying palpable energy from the Backlash Kickoff show to WWE SmackDown and WWE Backlash itself.
Fans created unique moments such as singing Randy Orton’s theme song, chanting for AJ Styles, and witnessing the viral entrance of Jey Uso. This entrance delivered one of the best fan interactions in recent memory.
WWE has hosted premium live events in Australia, Scotland, Canada, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. However, none of the fan reactions matched the energy of Backlash in France. The overwhelming fan reaction in France appeared to all but guarantee another premium live event in Paris later this year.
Nick Khan confirms WWE’s return to Paris, France, for a premium live event in 2025
WWE President Nick Khan recently visited Las Vegas and confirmed that a premium live event will take place in Paris later this year. He mentioned that while the event will be in Paris, it hasn’t been officially announced yet.
Khan did not reveal which specific event will be held in Paris, only confirming that one is planned for this year.
Amid this, international singer and rapper Bad Bunny has also become one of the big names to become involved in the promotion. He stirred excitement among many fans by suggesting the promotion would host Backlash in Mexico but did not specify when or where the event would take place.
However, the rumor was quickly debunked, with several reports confirming that WWE has no plans to hold any show in Mexico in 2025 as the promotion is aiming to hold a show there in 2026. It will be interesting to see which countries WWE will explore in 2025.
