My Demon
My Demon is one of the best K-dramas of 2023. Starring Song Kang as Gu-Won and Kim You-Jung as Do Do-Hee, the fantasy romance series revolves around an heiress and a demon. Gu-Won gets involved in Do-Hee’s life after his power transfers to her. She has many enemies, and if she dies, the power will also vanish. As a result, Gu-Won turns into her bodyguard and eventually her husband to protect her.
The two fall in love and fight their respective battles together. Song Kang’s versatility has become one of his talents. While he appears as a romantic demon in My Demon, he has also impressed fans with his performance in Sweet Home 2 this year.
Gyeongseong Creature
Gyeongseong Creature is the latest K-drama, featuring Park Seo-Joon as Jang Tae-Sang and Han So-Hee as Yoon Chae-Ok. The drama is set in 1945, when the Japanese ruled over Korea. Tae-Sang is a wealthy man with connections, while Chae-Ok arrives to search for her missing mother at Gyeongseong.
The two partner up to find missing people who are connected to a hospital and its experience. During their journey, the lead characters realize that their mission is more dangerous than they thought. The first part of Gyeongseong Creature was released on December 22, 2023, while part 2 will premiere on January 5, 2024, on Netflix.
Twinkling Watermelon
Twinkling Watermelon is also one of the best K-dramas of 2023. The heartwarming series revolves around a high schooler named Eun Gyeol (Ryeo Un) and his father, who has a hearing impairment. He wants to be a part of a band but is unable to pursue it. One day, he transports to many years back when his parents were in high school.
He then decides to befriend them and help them in order to change their future. Along the journey, he meets Choi Se-Kyung (Seol In-A), who has also been transported to the past as his helper.
Destined With You
Destined With You is a story about Jang Shin-Yu (Rowoon) and Lee Hong-Jo’s (Jo Bo-Ah) ill-fated romance. Shin-Yu finds an old wooden chest that leads him to a civil servant named Hong-Jo. Her ancestor appears to be the owner of the box, so she inherits it. It contains a spell-book, which may help Shin-Yu lift his family curse.
While dealing with the spell book, the two get into big trouble. Along the way, they fall in love with each other.
King The Land
King The Land is another of the best K-dramas of 2023, starring Lee Joon-Ho as Gu Won and Lim Yoon-A as Cheon Sa-Rang. It is an office romance revolving around Sa-Rang, a hotel employee, and her boss, Gu Won. The two initially lock horns but gradually fall in love. However, their social status and property battles hinder their relationship multiple times. In the end, fate brings them together.
