Ryu Jun-Yeol’s The 8 Show Beats Popular Netflix Shows The Atypical Family & Queen of Tears

Netflix recently released a survival K-drama, The 8 Show, starring Ryu Jun-Yeol and Chun Woo-Hee. The unexpected popularity of the series has placed it on the top of the Netflix Global Top 10 chart (non-English). It beats popular shows like The Atypical Family and Queen of Tears

The 8 Show is a drama similar to Squid Game. It revolves around eight individuals who enter the mysterious game show to earn money and pay their debts. The synopsis reads, “Eight individuals trapped in a mysterious 8-story building participate in a tempting but dangerous show where they earn money as time passes.”

The drama stars Jun-Yeol, Woo-Hee, Park Jeong-Min, Lee Yul-Eum, Park Hae-Joon, Lee Joo-Young, Moon Jeong-Hee, and Bae Sung-Woo. Meanwhile, the series has grabbed Netflix viewers’ attention, which helped The 8 Show lead the Netflix Global Top 10 chart (Non-English).

The streamer recently released the Netflix Global Top 10 chart (Non-English), which mentions the views each show received from May 20, 2024 to May 26, 2024. Ryu Jun-Yeol’s The 8 Show bags the number one position, beating The Atypical Family and Queen of Tears.

The chart mentions that The 8 Show received 4.8 million views last week. According to a Sports Chosun report, the drama also garnered appreciation in the second week. It appears on the Top 10 list in around 68 countries, including Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Egypt, France, and Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the Netflix chart further shows The Atypical Family in sixth place with 1.6 million views and Queen of Tears in eighth, with 1.3 million views. In the previous week, Chun Woo-Hee and Jang Ki-Young’s ongoing drama ranked eight, while The 8 Show was further below. The views of Kim Soo-Hyun and Kim Ji-Won’s Queen of Tears have dropped.

Only time will tell whether Jun-Yeol’s survival show will continue to lead the top 10 charts (non-English). The drama is available to stream on Netflix.
