In case you were wondering, a different cut of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad does indeed exist and is much better than the theatrical release. At least, according to Ayer himself who took to Twitter and discussed his most recent experience watching the film. Check out the full Tweet below!
I took the hits like a good soldier when the studio cut hit the streets. It’s who I am.
I watched my cut for the first time since it was abandoned.
It is f*cking amazing. On God.I felt guilty for years like I f*cked. Nope. It’s fire. It’s the tone of the Comicon trailer 100% https://t.co/sFlFiGW5yN

Exclaimed Ayer: “I took the hits like a good soldier when the studio cut hit the streets. It’s who I am. I watched my cut for the time since it was abandoned. It is f*cking amazing. On God. I felt guilty for years like I f*cked. Nope. It’s fire. It’s the tone of the Comicon trailer 100%”
Hopefully, we get a chance to see the man’s work, for better or worse. It’s obviously something he’s very proud of and it would be a shame if it never sees the light of day. Fingers crossed!
The original Suicide Squad hauled in $746 million worldwide despite receiving a savage beating from critics and (most) audiences alike. Ayer has teased his cut of Suicide Squad for some time now and maintains that it serves as a more proper setup for Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League.
In the meantime, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is slated to release on August 6, 2021. You can check out that trailer here!
