Anthony Mackie is suiting up as Captain America once again, as Deadline is reporting that Mackie has closed a deal to star in Captain America 4.

While Mackie and the folks at Marvel Studios have tried to keep things under wraps, Deadline is reporting that the actor will be reprising his role as the newly minted Captain America from his time on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. It’s unclear whether or not the film will star Sebastian Stan. Malcolm Spellman — the head writer and creator of The Falcon and The Winter Solider — will write the fourth installment of Captain America.
Previously, Spellman and Mackie had played coy about the possibility of returning for the fourth film, with Spellman specifically saying that if Marvel Studios hadn’t said anything, he wouldn’t believe it. “Who said it? Did Kevin say it?” Spellman said when asked about the rumors back in April. “I would not put faith in anything you do not hear directly from the man himself!”

However, after the massive success of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and the positive fan reaction to Mackie’s Sam Wilson carrying the shield going forward, it was a no-brainer for Marvel Studios to push forward with him as one of the most iconic heroes in comic book history.
