Ahead of Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the company seeems to be preparing for some huge projects in the future.

As first appearing on a subreddit dedicated to leaks and rumors for all things Marvel Cinematic Universe, trademarks for “Avengers: Secret Wars” and “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” were officially filed on Friday, July 22, 2022, with the European Union Intellectual Property Office for a wide variety of categories, including goods and services in film production.
Some digging by the subreddit found that the filer of the patents, Mitscherlich, has worked with Disney on past film production patents, including films like Sneakerella.
While it’s still unknown exactly what these patents could be for, or even if it is Marvel who plans on using them, the fact that the filing date comes just one day before Marvel Studios’ planned San Diego Comic-Con panel has led many to believe that an announcement of future Avengers films will be revealed at the panel. Should they be legitimate titles for future Avengers projects, they would follow the most obvious trajectory for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During the Disney+ series Loki‘s season finale, Kang (played by Jonathan Majors) was revealed, setting the stage for what many fans believed to be the next “big bad” in the MCU, Kang the Conqueror, to appear. The name “Kang Dynasty” also likely refers to a 16-part comic series from Marvel that saw Kang and his son, Marcus, planning to conquer planet Earth.

As far as Secret Wars goes, fans have long been awaiting news of a potential live-action adaptation of the iconic comic book series, which sees various Marvel heroes and villains being taken by a cosmic entity known as The Beyonder, where they then fight it out on a planet called Battleworld.
