The Bikeriders: Jodie Comer, Tom Hardy & Austin Butler Join New Regency Film

According to Deadline, Emmy winner Jodie Comer, Oscar nominee Tom Hardy, and Elvis breakout Austin Butler have signed on for the leading roles in New Regency’s drama film, The Bikeriders. This project marks Jeff Nichols’ feature directorial comeback, six years after the release of the acclaimed romantic drama Loving.

The Bikeriders is inspired by Danny Lyon’s 1967 photography book of the same name. It is an original story that takes places in the 1960s. The film follows the rise of a fictional Midwestern motorcycle club.

“Seen through the lives of its members, the club evolves over the course of a decade from a gathering place for local outsiders into a more sinister gang, threatening the original group’s unique way of life,” reads the synopsis.

The film will be directed and produced by Nichols. Producers are Tri-State’s Sarah Green and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, with Fred Berger executive producing.

Comer is best known for her acclaimed performance as Villanelle in BBC One’s thriller dramedy Killing Eve, which just wrapped up its fourth and final season. She will next be seen in HBO’s sex therapy series Big Swiss, which is produced by Adam McKay.

Hardy is best known for his roles in critically-acclaimed and blockbuster films such as Mad Max: Fury Road, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Revenant. He will next be seen in Gareth Evans’ newest action-thriller, Havoc, for Netflix. Butler recently starred in his first major film role as Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s biographical musical drama film. He is currently filming his next big project — Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two.
