New Evil Dead Movie Gets Official Title, Release Date Window

Sébastien Vaniček’s new Evil Dead movie officially has a name and a release date window according to the filmmaker in a recent post on social media.

What is the new Evil Dead movie called?

In a recent post to Instagram, Vaniček shared the front page of the film’s script. On it, the movie’s title, Evil Dead Burn, could be seen, as well as the credits, which list Vaniček and Florent Bernard as co-writers on the project. The script also notes that it is based on Sam Raimi’s iconic film series The Evil Dead.

In the post’s caption, Vaniček confirms that the movie is set to release sometime in 2026.

Currently, nothing is known about Evil Dead Burn, but Vaniček did tell French website Konbini earlier this year that the film would be “nasty,” and his hope is to make audiences come away from the film feeling “tested.”

“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested,” Vaniček said. “I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”

Prior to his work on the new Evil Dead movie, Vaniček directed the 2023 horror film Infested, which he also co-wrote alongside Bernard.

The film will follow up Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise, which was released in 2023 to massive success. An untitled seventh Evil Dead is also in the works and set to be written and directed by Francis Galluppi, but nothing is known about that project as of now.

The Evil Dead franchise began in 1981 with Raimi’s original film and was subsequently followed up by two sequels, Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness. The series took a brief hiatus until 2013 when Fede Álvarez revived the franchise with a re-imagined film.
