Mackie’s character will be named John Doe, a man that has no memories of his past and is seeking a better life. As such, he accepts a dangerous mission to deliver a package across a wasteland that’s filled with other dangerous drivers. We can also expect familiar faces from the video game franchise in the action-comedy, such as Sweet Tooth and his ice cream truck.
“We’re thrilled to have Anthony Mackie on board. His ability to blend comedy, action and drama is perfect for the Twisted world we’re creating,” said Asad Qizilbash, head ofa PlayStation Productions to Deadline.
The series is based on a concept from Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who will executive produce. It will be written by Cobra Kai scribe Michael Jonathan Smith, who will also serve as an EP. Other executive producers include PlayStation Studios’ Hermen Hulst, Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions, Inspire Entertainment’s Jason Spire, Electric Avenue’s Will Arnett and Marc Forman, and Peter Principato of Artists First.
