Since the release of the first Hawkeye trailer, one of the most intriguing and eye-catching parts of the trailer was undoubtedly the Marvel Cinematic Universe-themed Broadway musical, which teased a big musical number featuring actors dressed as Thor, Iron Man, and more. Soon after, it was revealed that it is apparently a Captain America musical titled Rogers: The Musical which Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton will get to watch in the upcoming Disney+ series.
During a recent interview with Marvel.com, Tony-winning composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Smash, Mary Poppins Returns) confirmed their involvement in the series. They went to reveal they were enlisted by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to write and produce a one-show-stopping musical number centered around the Avengers and the Battle in New York.
“[Scott and I] were at an Academy Award dinner, and I’m sitting there and someone taps me on the shoulder and says, ‘Excuse me, Kevin Feige would love to meet you,’” Shaiman explained. “I knew who Kevin was, and I was like he wants to meet me, really? Turns out Kevin is a film score nerd. He started talking about [the scores I’ve written] one by one and I was like, I cannot believe this is happening. We started trading emails about scores and this and that, and when I would see [Marvel movies] I would send him an email. I guess when this idea came up for Hawkeye, for there to be a musical on Broadway, he luckily thought of us, and [Scott and I] couldn’t be more ecstatic about it.”

Hawkeye sees Jeremy Renner reprising his iconic role as Clint Barton, with the story also set to introduce his fan-favorite protégé Kate Bishop, who in the comic is also a member of the Young Avengers. The character will be portrayed by Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld.
“The series is set in a post-blip New York City, where former Avenger Clint Barton aka Hawkeye has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas,” reads the official synopsis. “But when a threat from his past shows up, Hawkeye reluctantly teams up with Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old skilled archer and his biggest fan, to unravel a criminal conspiracy.”
