Dune: Prophecy’s Mark Addy reacts to Evgeny’s death in Episode 4
Actor Mark Addy was present for a chat, where he talked about the death of his character, Evgeny Harkonnen in the recently-released Episode 4 titled, “Twice Born.”
As reported earlier by ComingSoon, in Episode 4, Evgeny and Vayla, who returned to the Harknonnen House to use them to enter the High Council of the Landsraad, have a confrontation that leads to an unimaginable consequence. While it is evident that Evgeny isn’t fond of Vayla, he accuses her of coming back to the family only to fulfill her desires.
Here, Vayla fires back at Evgeny and the family asserting that she is aware of the hatred that the Harkonnen family carries toward her. Suddenly, Evgeny faces shortness of breath as he reaches for his inhaler, Vayla snatches it away and lets her uncle die a painful and slow death.
Speaking on the death scene and what it felt like working with Emily Watson, who plays Vayla, Mark Addy told The Direct, “So it was a joy, a horrible scene, but a joy to be part of. The scene itself, I mean, it’s a culmination of 30 years of resentment, and just, when you’re working with an actor that gives you so much back, it’s just a joy to do in spite of the appalling nature of the scene.”
Addy further spoke of Watson’s character, Vayla. He added, “For Valya, the fact that she’s willing to let her own uncle die, all right, he’s not a very nice person, but the fact that she’s willing to let him die at her feet, you know, it shows a little bit about the nature of her character.”
