CM Punk Reveals WrestleMania 40 Status in Major Announcement

CM Punk shattered the silence surrounding his WrestleMania 40 fate on the latest edition of WWE RAW. He confirmed the speculations surrounding the injury he sustained at the Royal Rumble 2024 last Saturday.

CM Punk started the show by talking about his injury. He first congratulated Cody Rhodes for winning the Royal Rumble. Then, he told everyone about his injury, saying he hurt his right tricep during the match. Although he wants to keep wrestling, he knows it’s unlikely he will get to be the main event at WrestleMania 40. Expressing his determination despite the setback, he vowed to return stronger, clinging to the dream of headlining WrestleMania in the future.

Interrupting the moment, Drew McIntyre interjected with vindictive sentiments, admitting to praying for Punk’s misfortune. Provoking Punk further, McIntyre asserted his aspirations by finding a way to the main event of WrestleMania and live CM Punk’s dream again. Punk then assured McIntyre that he would return, headlining WrestleMania in the future. However, before that could happen, he made it clear that he would be coming for McIntyre first.

Tensions escalated as Drew McIntyre attacked CM Punk by targetting his injured arm until a surprise savior emerged. Sami Zayn rushed to Punk’s aid, driving McIntyre from the ring.

How did CM Punk sustain an injury at Royal Rumble 2024?

On the latest edition of RAW, WWE Superstar CM Punk confirmed his injury status. Reports had circulated that Punk had sustained a “significant injury” during his appearance in the 2024 Royal Rumble match. Punk entered the Rumble at the 27th spot and was eliminated by the eventual winner, Cody Rhodes.

The injury is thought to have occurred after Punk received a DDT from Drew McIntyre, leading Punk to roll out of the ring while clutching his left arm. According to an update from PWInsider, Punk is likely headed for surgery after his appearance at RAW. It is believed within the promotion that, following surgery, he will require approximately 4-6 months of recovery. If this timeline holds true, it would rule him out of WrestleMania, and he may not return until the summer if he undergoes surgery within the next week.

Meanwhile, Seth Rollins is rumored to be CM Punk’s opponent at WrestleMania 40. He also sustained an injury a few weeks ago on RAW. Reports suggest that he is expected to be ready for WrestleMania in April.
